How to become a member of Pella Lutheran Church:

  • First, begin attending worship services. After the service, introduce yourself to our Pastor and share that you are interested in membership.
  • If you are a confirmed member of a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, and have met with our pastor, ask for a transfer from your current congregation.
  • If you have not been confirmed, you will want to speak with our Pastor about membership classes to fully understand what we believe and teach. These are usually scheduled as needed and run for eight to twelve weeks.
  • After your transfer has been received, or after you have been confirmed, a motion will be made at the next Elders Meeting that your application for membership be accepted. Once the motion has been accepted at our congregational meeting you officially become a member.

Worship regularly. We cannot stress this enough. We are concerned about your relationship with your Lord. To keep that relationship alive and strong, you need to be regular in worship, hearing God’s Word and receiving the Lord’s Supper. Joining a church says to the public you are a Christian and that you are a member of God's own people, who are called "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation" (1 Peter 2:9). It says you believe and act thus and thus as a witness to the Christian faith and as an example to others. It means you are doing what the very first Christians did in joining to devote themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer (Acts 2:42).

Our prayer and desire is that Pella will be a blessing to you and your family. And that you will grow closer to your Lord through the power of His Spirit.
